Our Web Design Process
Please note that not all steps in our process may be applicable to your project. If you already have an in-house design and copywriting team, for example, we recommend using them for their respective project phases.
Initial Call
The first step is to set up an initial call with our web team. During this call we’ll chat about your current website (if applicable), your goals for your new site, and figure out whether we’re a perfect fit for the project.
Discovery
If we’re a fit, we’ll begin the discover phase. Here, we’ll take an in-depth look at your existing website, its accessibility, functionality, and messaging. Next, we’ll look at your target demographic, competitors, and other sites operating within similar sectors to help identify opportunities and strategies for your new site.
Messaging
The single most important aspect of any website is its messaging. It doesn’t matter how good your site looks, how optimized its performance is, or how compliant it is with local accessibility regulations if it’s not providing visitors with the information they need to act! We’ll take a deep dive on your products, services, and offerings, and make suggestions as to how we can best serve your most important messaging to be as effective as possible for your goals.
Wireframe
Once your messaging structure is in place, we’ll build out basic wireframes to establish the content flow and user interface of your website. It’s during this stage that we’ll lock down the structure of the site, how users will navigate through your various pages, and determine how to maximize the efficiency of content delivery. Everything needs to be as easy as possible for your users to access, and this step plays a key role in making sure that’s the case.
Design
Now that we’ve determined the most important ingredients for your website, it’s time to out them all together in a way that showcases your brand’s personality! By the end of this stage of the process, you’ll have a fully complete prototype of your website – with all site content, imagery, and structure in place and ready to be built!
Development
With every aspect of the site now locked-in and signed off, we’ll move into development, where the prototype becomes an interactive, accessible reality!
Launch
When the development is compete, you’ll be provided with a login to the administration area of the site, and some training to familiarize yourself with the custom back-end we have crafted to support your primary goals. You don’t need to worry about being overwhelmed with confusing menus and technical jargon – everything is simple and easy to use. Once you’re confident with everything, we’ll push the site live, make our final performance optimizations, and you’re ready to annouce it to the world!
Depending on your team’s technical expertise, you may prefer to have us look after the nitty gritty of site maintenance. We’re happy to discuss post launch management options with you if you just want to focus on your site’s content updates (in fact, we strongly recommend you take this approach).
